Independence Pass Motorcycle Trip

Cookie showed me how to add pictures to this blog. Thank you dear. I'm going to use this post to practice my new knowledge.

Not long ago one of my best good friends and I decided to ride to the top of Independence Pass. We rode through approximately 120 miles of rain. It was also cold. Our first town was Leadville where Lance Armstrong was apparently hanging out for a bike ride or charity event of some sort. I had to pick up some liners for my gloves as it was just a smidge uncomfortable.

The view leaving town was amazing...we were looking down on a cloud bank from above. The clouds were hanging out in the valley we were getting ready to ride through.

It was apparently the Arkansas Headwaters area.

We stopped and visited a restaurant in Twin Lakes for breakfast. I did an impromptu wine tasting and purchased a bottle. It was my first real 'cargo' for my newly purchased saddle bags. I think they are also a bed and breakfast.

On the way back down it continued to rain but never left us without a beautiful view.

We stopped at a wonderful little restaurant I'd recommend to anyone passing through. It's called the grill and it is off the main road 1 block...but you can see it from the highway.

When we got back we were both soaked to the core, and I believe I had a mild case of hypothermia in my face. I had the 'umbles' without the grumpy part. I've been whining and complaining for him to send me the collection of pictures he took with his camera, but I've yet to see more than 2. :)
I had invited a couple other folks along for this ride, but in hindsight I'm happy it was just me and him. Neither of us complained about the conditions. We laughed, carried on and just enjoyed life...however it comes. We had to want to make this ride...we saw mountain views not many have had the opportunity to see. And above all else, spending quality time with the family you get to pick. Thank you my friend.
