CouchSurfing

Wow what a packed holiday!! I've become increasingly involved in a new (to me) community called Couchsurfing. I've met some amazing folks over the past several months, and especially in the last week.

I originally hosted a gal from SC who needed a place for just over a week. She's on her way to Salt Lake City to start work. While she was here I got a request from a couple of fellas need g a place to crash on their way from Las Cruces, NM to somewhere out in California. After they came and went, my other several day surfer showed up. He arrived from the mountains but was in town from Mankato MN.

The day he arrived I was hosting an orphan Christmas dinner for travelers and their guests. We had a nice turnout and several stayed the night. After dinner we all sat around a roaring fire and shares life experiences.

I also hosted a cowgirl wannabe from Switzerland. She had been traveling the southwest, specifically Texas, playing around on a dude ranch. She found a cheap flight from Denver to Mexico city. Bless her heart, she barely spoke English, and not a pick of Spainish. I hopped on CS and got her a contact who seemed to be pretty active in the community. Bones: she replied in German! A few days after that connection was made, I got a message from the girl in Mexico City that they had connected and all was well.

This community is absolutely amazing. The people are wonderful, the stories are amazing, and I haven't met a stranger yet!!
